AS KIGALI WFC VOWS STRONG PERFORMANCE IN THE “FOREVER MATCH” AFTER INTENSIVE PREPARATIONS AT PELÉ STADIUM
AS Kigali WFC continued intensive and confidence boosting training sessions at Pelé Stadium today as part of preparations for the special “Forever Match”, scheduled for Sunday at 3:00 PM, to be played at Tapis Rouge. The training session clearly showed that the team is in good form, determined to perform well and bring joy to its supporters.
The players displayed remarkable commitment, professionalism, and high morale, making the training session highly competitive and productive. As various drills were conducted, confidence was evident not only among the players themselves but also among the coaching staff closely monitoring the session.
During the training, AS Kigali WFC focused heavily on tactical organization, quick passing sequences, and strengthening coordination between defenders, midfielders, and attackers.
The team trained with clear structure, showing that each player fully understands her role, allowing the squad to function as a single unit. Communication and teamwork were at a very high level elements the coaches believe will be crucial in the much anticipated match.
All players showed they are in excellent physical and mental condition, ready to face their opponents in the “Forever Match.” Some of the team’s key players stood out with exceptional ball control, quick transitions, and the ability to create goal scoring opportunities.
Head coach Mukamusonera Théogène stated that preparations for the return phase have brought renewed confidence compared to the earlier stage of the competition.
She said:
“Honestly, we did not perform well in the first phase because we had many young players who were not yet accustomed to the competition. As a result, we lost several matches. However, based on the level we have now reached, teams should take AS Kigali WFC seriously in the return phase.”
Mukamusonera further explained that significant changes have been made within the squad, particularly in the attacking department, which had previously posed challenges.
“Our main issue was in attack. We created chances and reached the goal area, but we failed to convert them. We have been working hard on that problem in recent days and have also added fresh blood where some players were underperforming.”
She added:
“At the moment, we have new players who have joined the squad and are working well with their teammates. They bring confidence, and we believe we will no longer waste scoring opportunities.”
On January 18, 2026, AS Kigali WFC will face Forever WFC, a team not to be underestimated. Mukamusonera reminded that Forever WFC is an experienced side and that the two teams drew in the first phase.
“Forever WFC is not an easy team. It has history, and the draw we had in the first phase shows that we must approach this match with great caution. We are well prepared, and we will give everything, building on the intensive training we have been doing.”
The match will take place at Tapis Rouge, a venue known for hosting major fixtures, adding prestige and significance to the encounter. Fans are expecting a match filled with passion, intensity, and high level football.
The head coach concluded by calling on supporters to turn up in large numbers and back their team.
“AS Kigali WFC is a team with history and pride. It is not a team that simply collapses and gives up. We are working hard to restore its name, even if it takes one or two years.”
He continued:
“We urge fans to come and watch the return-phase matches. What I can promise them is that they will enjoy themselves, they will be entertained, and they will clearly see the difference compared to the first phase.”
