AUSTRALIA THRASHES MALAWI IN FIFA SERIES 2026 OPENER

As the FIFA Series 2026 women’s tournament kicked off on April 11, 2026, in Kenya, the Australian national team made a strong start by defeating Malawi 5-0 in their opening match.

Australia began the game on the front foot, with Emily Van Egmond opening the scoring early in the 5th minute. Sam Kerr then added a second goal in the 38th minute, giving Australia a comfortable lead heading into halftime.

In the second half, Australia continued to dominate the match. Alex Chidiac scored the third goal in the 59th minute, Holly McNamara added the fourth in the 86th minute, and Leticia McKenna sealed the emphatic victory with a fifth goal in stoppage time (90+).

This convincing win showed that Australia has started the tournament strongly, sending a clear warning to other teams competing for the title.
